TARGET SPECIES
Spotted Sea Trout
Spotted sea trout can be found in numerous places, all the way from the flats to back deep in the mangroves. Is a fast, fighting fish that will bite most anything.
Redfish
Redfish are ravenous feeders that will take live bait – fish, crabs, and shrimp, and also dead or cut baits from some sources
Spanish Mackerel
Spanish Mackerel are not picky eaters – they will eat just about anything. You will often catch many on a slice of cut squid belly, frozen chunk bait, or strip bait from previously frozen bait.
Snook
Snook are the celebrity of the ocean. They have tremendous fighting style ability and their ambush-style attacks will definitely get your heart racing.
Tarpon
Some of the most fun you will have. Tarpon will take dead baits, such as a Mullet head or half Mullet, fished patiently on bottom. For trolling or surfcasting with heavier gear, large jigs, spoons and lipped plugs get the call.
Black Drum
A versatile cousin to the red drum, black drum fishes are caught inshore in bays and lagoons and offshore in Florida waters along the coastline.
Cobia
The cobia is a species of carangiform marine fish, the only representative of the genus Rachycentron and the family Rachycentridae. Other common names include black kingfish, black salmon, ling, lemonfish, crabeater, prodigal son and black bonito.
Mangrove Snapper
The mangrove snapper or gray snapper is a species of snapper native to the western Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean Sea. The species can be found in a wide variety of habitats, including brackish and fresh waters.
VIEWABLE-ONLY SPECIES
Manatee
The manatee is a large marine mammal with an egg-shaped head, flippers and a flat tail. Manatees are also known as sea cows. This name is apt, due to their large stature; slow, lolling nature; and propensity to be eaten by other animals.
Dolphin
While you don’t want to catch a dolphin, these playful creatures will come right up to your spot. They love to show off, jump out of the water, splash and once in a while, even take your catch right off your hook.
